Question's
& Answer's On The New Convert Care Program
A Scriptural
Follow-up Which Works
"In every house they ceased not to teach" (Acts 5:42)
INTRODUCTION:
The following questions are the ones most often asked, concerning the New
Convert Care Program.
QUESTION 1:
What is the program?
ANSWER: The New Convert Care program is a program designed to
help stop the loss of new converts, and helps them to find a place in the local
church family.
QUESTION 2: How
does the follow-up program work?
ANSWER: When the new convert joins the church, an older
Christian member (Role Model) is appointed over him. This older Christian member
goes to the new convert’s home once each week for a series of lessons, which
strengthens the new member and helps establish him in his Christian life.
QUESTION 3: How
does one become a Role Model?
ANSWER: FIRST, the Pastor
selects a Role Model candidate. SECOND, he is asked to read and complete the
Big Brother Manual, which
completely explains the program. THIRD, the DIRECTOR interviews the
candidate. If he completes these steps then he is eligible for appointment of
Role Model by the Pastor.
QUESTION 4: What
is the Biblical concept of the follow-up program?
ANSWER: The older Christian is trained by the Pastor and
equipped by our material to take the spiritual milk of the Word to the new
convert (spiritual babe), instead of making the young Christian come to the
church to be fed.
QUESTION 5:
Does the program distract from soul-winning?
ANSWER: No! It adds to and encourages soul-winning rather
than distracting from it. Dr. Ted Hicks, former President of the Pacific Coast
Baptist Bible College, states, "If this program was worked according to the
book, it will ENLARGE any church and at the same time, set off a reaction of
SOUL-WINNING THAT WILL SPREAD UNTIL JESUS COMES!"
QUESTION 6: How
long does the teaching program last?
ANSWER: There are ten (10)
lessons in the first Book, Milk of the Word. The
teaching program is designed to complete one lesson per week.; however, it is a
one-on-one, tailor-made teaching program. It may take longer in some cases.
QUESTION 7:
How long does the older Christian spend in the home each week?
ANSWER: The visit should be limited to one-half hour up to an
hour.
QUESTION 8: Does
the older Christian require any training before he is appointed?
ANSWER: Yes. In order to equip him with the confidence and
knowledge he needs to be able to do this important work properly, he must have
prior instruction.
QUESTION 9:
How much training?
ANSWER:: In addition to the
procedure of reading the manual and completing the requirements stated in
question 4, he should have read and completed the Help
From A Big Brother book. This will fully equip him for the task of
helping his little brother. NOTE: The Pastor will have judged him worthy in
other areas of his life when appointing him as a Role Model candidate.
QUESTION 10:
Do you have much difficulty in recruiting workers?
ANSWER: No. When church members hear of the simplicity of the
program and realize that, "Here is something I can do," they are happy
to get involved.
QUESTION 11: Is
there a method of reporting and keeping records of the visits and growth of the
little brother?
ANSWER: Yes, there is a simple method of reporting the
results of each weekly visit to the Pastor. This updates him with a current
knowledge of the spiritual condition of his young converts. He keeps the reports
before him at all times.
QUESTION 12:
What is the basic purpose of appointing a Role Model?
ANSWER: The older Christian is taught to minister to the new
convert. This means looking for the new convert in all church services,
introducing him to other good Christians in the church, sitting with him, having
him over to his home at least once, and encouraging him in his Christian life,
etc.
QUESTION 13:
What is the basic purpose of the ten lessons in the program?
ANSWER: The first lesson shows the new member his is part of
the church family, and that he is to submit himself to Pastoral leadership, and
how to handle some early trials he will have. The next four lessons teach him
how to study the Bible, so he can feed himself while the remainder of the
lessons teach him how to serve and become a happy, fruitful member of the local
church family.
QUESTION 14: In
your opinion, what is the greatest benefit of the program?
ANSWER: It teaches them how to study the Bible, so they can
feed themselves and therefore, serve God. It teaches people what being a
Christian means, and how they can minister.
QUESTION 15: How
much does the program add to the workload of an already busy Pastor?
ANSWER: Actually, this program cuts down on the workload of a
busy Pastor by spreading the work out to other Christians. The report, the
director of the program provides the pastor each week, allows the Pastor to know
the progress of each new convert, and therefore, he can plan his schedule more
wisely and become more productive.
QUESTION 16: What
is the greatest benefit that a local church receives from the program?
ANSWER: When greater numbers of people are involved, it
develops a more spiritual fellowship among the people. In the average church,
15% of the members are doing 90% of the work. This program teaches people how to
minister. The 15% of the working membership grows, which brings new excitement,
cuts down dissention, and brings new harmony within the membership. It creates
hope and vision for further success.
QUESTION 17: Will
the program work in a large church, which has hundreds of additions a year?
ANSWER: Yes. The membership of a large church, which wins
many people, welcomes and needs the program. The new convert needs that
"smiling face" of his Role Model to look for in that vast intimidating
crowd at church. Many older Christians need the satisfaction of feeling needed,
which they receive while developing their new convert.
QUESTION 18: What
is the best method of starting the program?
ANSWER: FIRST, have a Discipleship Revival in which both the
mechanics and the Biblical principles are thoroughly taught in the Church.
SECOND, the Pastor and the people who are to lead the program should have a
special time with the repre-sentative of New Testament Ministries. THIRD, The
program is instituted through the Sunday School with the Pastor or teachers
adopting the role of the older disciple, while the Sunday School students take
on the role of the new convert. By doing so, the Sunday School members learn by
experience, which helps qualify them as Role Models.
QUESTION 19: What
is the customization of the material?
ANSWER:: New Testament
Ministries will place the name of the Pastor and his church on the front cover
of the books, along with the Pastor’s picture and his message. (In short, we
attempt to leave the impression that the book was written by the Pastor
especially for his church use.) The church’s address and the order of the
church services will be placed on the back cover.
QUESTION 20: Is
the material expensive?
ANSWER: The first person who completed the program
demonstrates the answer to this question. He was giving $10.00 per week when he
started the program and $50.00 per week when he finished. The material is not
expensive. The benefits and additional income the program generates will far
exceed any cost of materials.
QUESTION 21: What
fee do you charge for coming to our local church?
ANSWER:: In most cases we come
for just a love offering. In some cases we must have expenses plus an offering.
QUESTION 22:
Do we have to buy all of the books or can they be purchased individually?
ANSWER: The author has 27 books or booklets. Each one can be
bought separately. In addition to the discipleship books, the author has
training books in soul-winning and other subjects. Check with site for future
information.
QUESTION 23: What
is the length of the new Convert Care Program?
ANSWER: That is up to the Pastor’s discretion. The milk of
the word contains ten lessons, which are designed to take ten weeks to complete;
however, there are four other workbooks in the new Convert Care series. Two of
these books are designed to be completed in a space of one week each. The
Mission of the church is designed for three months, while The
Four Transformational Truths book is a month long study.
